QUILT REQUIREMENTS
Entries must meet the definition of a quilted item (i.e. three layers: quilt top, batting and backing) held together by machine or hand quilting, or tied with yarn, floss or other appropriate material) with the exception of wool applique, yo-yo, puff (bisquit), cathedral window or crazy quilts. These should be entered in the Other Techniques category.
- All quilts larger than 36″ must have a 3″ – 4″ sleeve firmly attached to the upper back of quilt.
- Sleeves should measure no more than 94″ from the top of the sleeve to the bottom of the quilt.
- All quilts must be in “show ready” condition: clean, free of animal hair, offensive odors etc. with bound or finished edges.
- Quilts must have a label sewn on the back including entrant’s name and phone number.
- The quilt show committee reserves the right to make adjustments to the category a quilt is entered in and to reject items inappropriate or not ready for display.
- All items are entered at your own risk. Please check with your homeowners insurance. We suggest you photograph your quilt before dropping it off.
- Entries cannot have been entered in the Medford Area Quilt Show in previous years.
- A separate form must be filled out for each entry.
- Limited to five (5) entries per person and one (1) entries per category.
- Registrations are limited to the first 200 entries. You will receive a confirmation email.
QUILT SHOW ENTRY CATEGORIES
NON JUDGED CATEGORIES:
A) Large Bed Quilt: Predominantly Pieced, Hand or machine quilted or tied (326″ or more in perimeter)
B) Medium Bed Quilt: Predominantly Pieced, Hand or machine quilted or tied (251″-325″ in perimeter)
C) Small Bed Quilt: Predominantly Pieced, Hand or machine quilted or tied (250″ or less in perimeter)
D) Wall Quilts, Any Technique, to be hung on a wall, Hand or machine quilted or tied (250″ or less in perimeter)
E) Applique Quilts: Any size quilt which has applique as its most obvious feature, Hand or machine quilted or tied.
F) Feature Category: Modern Quilts.
G) Junior Quilter: Age 18 or younger, any size or technique, Machine or Hand Quilted, or Tied.
H) Miscellaneous Quilted Items: including, but not limited to: Purses, Totes, Table Runners and Toppers, Home Décor, Tree Skirts, Holiday Décor, Pillows, Bell Pulls, etc.
I) Other Techniques: including, but not limited to: Predominantly Hand or Machine Embroidered Quilts, Whole Cloth, Wool Appliqué, Yo-Yo, Crazy or Cathedral Window Quilts, Biscuit (aka Puff Quilts); Any size or quilting method. The three-layer rule does not apply to this category only.
JUDGED CATEGORIES:
K) Large Bed Quilt: Predominantly Pieced, Hand or machine quilted or tied (326″ or more in perimeter)
L) Medium Bed Quilt: Predominantly Pieced, Hand or machine quilted or tied (251″-325″ in perimeter)
M) Small Bed Quilt: Predominantly Pieced, Hand or machine quilted or tied (250″ or less in perimeter)
N) Wall Quilt:, Any Technique, to be hung on a wall, Hand or machine quilted or tied (250″ or less in perimeter)
O) Applique Quilts: Any size quilt which has applique as its most obvious feature, Hand or machine quilted or tied.
P) Feature Category: Modern Quilts.
DROP OFF/PICK UP INSTRUCTIONS
- Quilts must be dropped off at the Simek Center on Thursday, April 30 between 3-6 pm. A claim ticket will be issued for each entered item.
- Quilts will be displayed until 3pm on Sunday and should be picked up at the quilt show between 3:15 – 4:30 pm on Sunday following the show.
- Claim Tickets must be presented when picking up quilts. Quilts cannot be picked up early.
